And the most worthy of all these places, and the most laudable, primarily in their chief power and strength, are distinguished thus:
The circle is divided into 12 signs, of which 4 are named Angles: namely, the ascending sign, the 4th, the 7th, and the 10th. These signs are like the corners of the sky, which signify everything that is present in things—what is happening now—and the presence of things, and the power in all things.
And from these, four are called Succedent, or followers of the angles, which come after them: namely, the 2nd, the 5th, the 8th, and the 11th. These signify everything that is to come, and that which is stableoriginal: "ferment" - meaning things that are becoming fixed or established..
The other four are called Cadent, falling away from the angles, which draw apart and fall from the angles: they are the 3rd, the 6th, the 9th, and the 12th. These signify everything that is past; this is clear by the will [of God].
