Baptista Possevinus Giovanni Battista Possevino (1520–1549), an Italian scholar and brother of the Jesuit diplomat Antonio Possevino. pumped out these verses:

Does not deserve it—was once the King of the Stygian Lake The Stygian Lake refers to the River Styx in the underworld; the poet is calling Agrippa a king of hell..
Therefore, while he lived, he even had a guardian of the Underworld original: "Custodem... Orci"; a reference to the legend that Agrippa’s black dog was a demon.,
To whom he might now give a companion as prey in the darkness.
But this man, if he had known how to govern his genius,
Would have risen as high toward the heavens
As he now sinks into the black depths of Tartarus original: "Tartara nigra"; the deepest abyss of the underworld.."
Thus have they thoroughly bedeviled original: "all-to-be-divell'd"; to treat as a devil or cover with slander. him; but why may not Truth run in verse as well as scandal?
"Thus the great Agrippa suffices for a double world,
And his broken frame reveals diverse riches.
Earth takes back the earth, and Heaven possesses
Those things related to Heaven: the Wise Man original: "Sophos" wrote this before while living.
Nature draws Nature to itself: and the life above
Recognizes this soul, similar to the celestial, as its own.
Thus living and dying, he teaches: and while he stretcheshigh toward the stars,
Even Fate itself holds his magical hands."
