Furthermore, there is this difference between the two: in Geometry, because everyone is convinced that nothing is usually written there without a certain proof original: "demonstratio", the unlearned err more often by approving false things (simply because they wish to appear as if they understand them) than by refuting true ones.
By contrast, in Philosophy, because it is believed that there is no topic that cannot be argued from both sides, very few people actually search for the truth. Instead, far more people seek a reputation for cleverness by daring to attack original: "impugnare," inferred from the catchword "im-" even the most excellent...
