Pelican in her piety A common symbol in Christian art and alchemy. It represents the idea of life coming from death or the nourishment of the soul through the sacrifice of the body.
Rosae The roses on the shield likely refer to Rosicrucian symbols or specific alchemical stages.
Saltire A heraldic symbol in the shape of an X, also known as Saint Andrew's Cross.
