The idea of wishing to benefit humanity.
But for the observer of human nature original: "Menschenkenner" — one who possesses a deep, intuitive understanding of people, it is also
no news that among all possible
difficulties, this idea certainly carries the
greatest ones with it.

The wish is therefore surely pardonable
to be able to look more closely into the plan
which intends to realize this idea.
This wish arises in me for a twofold
reason: first, to gain personal
instruction from it; then, to
be encouraged to unite my own strengths toward the
execution of that plan.

I flatter myself that I shall receive more
detailed hints, and then duty and prudence
will teach me how I am to
explain myself further.

To this letter (for I absolutely do not
remember having written a second one)
I received in quick succession the following
handwritten missives formal or official letters, from which
my readers can see the sweet tone
