line 4, in the word imploring original: "flehen"; the editors argue this is a deliberate spiritual term rather than a typo for "fliehen" (fleeing), which could have been
viewed as a clerical error for fleeing original: "fliehen". The former is,
however, an affectionate fleeing of the heart Herzensfliehen: a mystical concept describing the soul's emotional and prayerful retreat into God's presence, and
thus more than a common fleeing; which
latter can happen out of fear of the enemy,
without one having a true trust of the heart Herzensvertrauen: an unwavering internal reliance on the Divine toward
the one to whom one flees: as can be seen
in birds that seek protection with
humans when the bird of prey original: "Stoßvogel"; a hawk or raptor
is after them, and they do not know
how to save themselves otherwise. There
are many such passages that some might
take for printing errors original: "Druckfehler", but upon
closer reflection will find the sense of
the Spirit, just as we did.
