At the same time, I have devoted myself to noting, as accurately as possible, the dates of birth original: nativitatis and death original: obitus for all of them. I have also taken this opportunity to indicate where they originated, where they lived, what they achieved or taught, and finally, where they ended their lives.
Furthermore, I have brought to light the titles of many books, especially manuscripts original: manuscriptorum; hand-written documents that had not yet been printed (many of which I was fortunate enough to examine myself), and I have restored the proper credit to their authors. I have also asserted this credit for those who, out of modesty, had published their works anonymously original: suppresso nomine; literally "with the name suppressed". Among the other things I believed would be helpful in expanding this volume original: codicem; a term for a bound book is this: I have provided a Latin translation original: Latinitate etiam donaverim; literally "endowed with Latinity" for all book titles originally written in other languages.
