Preface.
Since I find myself still prevented from publishing my CHEMICAL LIBRARY original Latin: BIBLIOTHECAM CHEMICAM, which I have in hand, according to my wishes; wherein not only the differences between all various editions, but also all chemical books in general are to be evaluated; I have therefore decided, at the request of good friends, to have a brief catalogue thereof printed until that time, of which this first part now appears, and the remaining parts shall soon follow.
By the words "chemical books," I do not mean only those which treat solely of the Philosopher’s Stone Philosopher’s Stone: In alchemy, a legendary substance capable of turning base metals into gold and silver; also used as an elixir of life. or the transmutation of base metals into better ones; but also all other books which have been written about the three kingdoms of nature The "three kingdoms" refers to the traditional classification of natural objects into mineral, vegetable, and animal. in general, such as: mining, herbs, animals, thermal baths, the art of domestic economy German: Haushaltungs-Kunst, referring to the management of a household or estate, often including agriculture and practical chemistry., and so forth.
Most of these books, both old and new, can be found by enthusiasts at the shop of the heirs of the late German: seel., short for selig, meaning "blessed" or "deceased." Mr. Johann Daniel Tauber in Nuremberg next to the Schuster-Gasse Shoemaker’s Lane., or also in Altdorf in the Tauber bookshop at fair prices, alongside many other books.
