On the usefulness of this book.

I have often wondered not a little that men, who have left almost no subject untouched in their writings, have not yet composed a Chemical Library Library: Borel uses the Latin Bibliotheca to mean a "bibliography"—a comprehensive catalog of books and authors—rather than a physical room filled with books.; therefore, moved by the persuasion of friends, I have applied my effort to this, and I have obtained a greater number of authors than I had promised myself, and I am still discovering more daily, so much so that I hope I shall soon give you the second part of this Bibliography, and in a better order, namely chronologically, and with short biographies original: vitis compendiosis of the principal authors; for I shall always collect authors in the future,
