Fritz Lieb (1892–1970) was a Swiss theologian and historian known for his extensive collection of books on Eastern Orthodoxy and mystical traditions.

Pasted here is the bookplate of the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica (The Ritman Library in Amsterdam). It features the motto "Hermetic Philosophy" surrounding a "Pelican in her Piety." This image of a pelican wounding her own breast to feed her chicks with her blood is a classic symbol of self-sacrifice, used in both Christian iconography (representing Christ) and alchemy (representing the nourishment of the "Great Work"). The pedestal features four roses, a hallmark of Rosicrucian symbolism.
