,, [purifica]tion, etc., are said to be discussed much more among the Mystics Mystics: Spiritual writers who focus on the internal, direct experience of God's presence rather than just external rituals or academic debate
,, than among other theologians. If this is true, it is to be hoped
,, that a theology will be presented by them which, in place of the
,, cold sterility that reigns too much everywhere, can win over
,, fertility in every good work for Christianity.

I could, with good reason, adopt this intention and these words of his as my own, just as I am doing; but that in no way prevents me from expressing my own mind more fully in my own words concerning the following short treatises.

The first of these (concerning Peaceable or Comparative Theology Theologia Pacifica: A method of theology aimed at finding common ground between different Christian denominations to end religious conflict), which is not by my own hand, I nevertheless did not want to be missing. Instead, I preferred it to be placed at the beginning, as it can serve as a necessary preparation for all who wish to read and understand anything truly and usefully in Mystical Theology. For quarrelsome minds are not suited for this—those who neither love peace, nor establish the Love of God original: "Amorem Dei" and their neighbor The Latin text cuts off at "proxi-", which completes as "proximum" (neighbor) on the next page, as indicated by the catchword "mi," as the foundation of peace...
