An ornamental printer's device or emblem. At the center is a decorative frame containing interlaced initials (likely 'V' and 'L') surrounded by elaborate floral and acanthus leaf scrollwork. A ribbon banner draped above the ornament contains the motto "Christ is all and in all." original Latin: "Alles und in allen Christus." and a similar banner below contains the motto "The longer, the dearer." original German: "Je Länger, Je Lieber." This is a play on words regarding the author's last name, Lange.
