religion; as it came to its full form and oeconomy dispensation or divine order under Moses after its patriarchal vanguard.
4. Now, I could certainly remain with such a division here for these reasons: however, because I am not bound to it, I will draw the Mosaic period into the fourth, especially in view of the passage in 1 Kings 6:1 where it says: In the four hundred and eightieth year after the departure of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's kingdom over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the LORD was built. For in these words, a very remarkable terminus a quo & ad quem starting and ending point is made for this period.
5. Since the materials accumulate from the fourth period onward, so that the further one goes, the more extensive the histories become; I have, to assist the memory, divided them into special sections, or shorter periods of time, as the significance of the starting and ending points required. And I retain this division in the following periods all the more appropriately as the supply of material becomes richer therein.
6. Because in the 5th and 6th periods, Jewish history enters into a great connection with the histories of the large foreign world empires, the Assyrian and Chaldean, the Persian, Greek, and Roman, historical parallelism had to be touched upon in its most important parts. On the other hand, in the preceding periods, I have not entered into the parallel history of other nations, which is full of uncertainty due to the lack of sufficient records.
7. In chronology, and also in the synchronismo simultaneous timeline of the ancient monarchies, I have followed the famous Jacobo Usserio James Ussher in his Annalibus Annals, as most modern interpreters and historians do; however, in a few points, I have departed from him, not without cause.
