A complex religious and mystical diagram divided into an upper celestial realm and a lower terrestrial or infernal realm. At the very top, a triangular radiance contains the Hebrew name for God, Yahweh original: "יהוה". From this point, nine rays of light shine downward. Each is labeled with a virtue representing the Fruits of the Spirit. Below these rays, the name Christ is spelled out in seven circular medallions. The center of the page features a horizontal bar labeled New Birth. This bar separates Life above from Death below. A vertical pillar or path intersects the center. It is inscribed with the words Way to Christ. In the bottom half, an arc of planetary symbols representing Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and the Moon sits above a dark, chaotic scene. A multi-headed dragon or hydra emerges from the darkness. Various Works of the Flesh are inscribed as branches or roots growing out of the beast. The bottom part of the illustration shows flames or jagged earth where the most severe vices are listed. The diagram is framed by references to the Epistle to the Galatians.
original: "יהוה", the Tetragrammaton or sacred name of God in Hebrew.
Way to Christ
In Böhme's system, these planetary symbols represent the seven "Source-Spirits" or properties of nature that govern both the cosmos and the human soul.
