were also to see—or feel something of—the fervor,
devotion, and burning desire of his spirit alongside [the words],
then we would truly recognize what a powerful,
earnest, and potent thing a righteous Christian
prayer is, which even penetrates the heavens,
as we shall hear.

Similarly, much is found in the Psalms regarding
praising, honoring, worshipping, extolling,
thanking, composing, singing, speaking,
and confessing God and His name (which
is Christ), as well as the glory of His goodness
and benefit—all of which belongs to prayer.
As in Psalm 88 original: "Psal. 88." This quote—"I thank you... with my whole heart"—actually corresponds to Psalm 86:12 in modern numbering.: "I thank you, Lord my God,
with my whole heart, and I praise your name forever."
And he often sings out of heartfelt love: "Give thanks
to the Lord, for he is friendly In this context, "friendly" (freündtlich) carries the weight of "gracious" or "benevolent.", and his
goodness lasts forever." From this, we may
now well learn what prayer is and what it
means to pray. No Christian will deny
that the Psalms are righteous prayers.
May God the merciful Lord give us His Spirit
for this, in which we may pray them rightly
and understand them rightly. Amen.
