Sacrifice of praise. original: "Sacrificium laudis."This fourth distinction of prayer is also called a sacrifice of praise, the sacrifice of the New Testament, the daily sacrifice which proceeds from a new, pure, spiritual heart. As it is written in the Prophet Malachi: But from the rising of the sun to its setting, my Name shall be glorious among the Gentiles; and in all places, incense shall be offered to my Name and a pure food offering; for my Name (that is, Christ) shall be glorious among the Gentiles, says the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 1.
Concerning incense, that it is the prayer of the saints, was heard previously.This is understood to refer to the conversion and offering up of the Gentiles. Concerning the sacrifice of praise, it says in Psalm 50: Offer to God an offering of thanks, and pay your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in time of need; so will I deliver you, and you shall praise me. And Paul to the Hebrews: So let us now offer through Christ the sacrifice of praise to God at all times, that is the fruit of the lips that confess his Name. But do not forget the good deeds and the sharing, for with such sacrifices (that is, with thanksgiving and good deeds or alms) one earns favor with God. Hebrews 13. We have a beautiful example of this in Cornelius, whose prayer and alms ascended as a memorial before the face of God. Acts 10.
