SINCE several theologians of our same Society have reviewed the book written by Father Lorenzo Alticozzi Lorenzo Alticozzi (1711–1777) was a Jesuit scholar specializing in church history and the refutation of heresies, a Priest of our Society, titled A Historical-Critical Dissertation on the Ancient and New Manichaeans original: "Dissertatio Historico-Critica de antiquis, novisque Manichæis". The work seeks to link ancient dualist heresies to contemporary 18th-century theological movements, and have approved that it may be published, we grant the faculty official permission or license, often called an "Imprimatur" for it to be sent to the press, if it so seems fit to those to whom it pertains. In witness of this, we have issued these letters, signed by our hand and secured with our seal. Rome, February 20, 1763.
