If some people find it difficult to admit the principles that I have come to recall to men, their embarrassment would only come from having followed their own judgment and not that of the Work the present treatise. They should not expect other explanations from me. For such people, additional explanations would be no clearer than the Work itself.
One will easily notice, while reading these reflections, that I have paid little attention to form. I have neglected the advantages of diction the artistic arrangement of words. If the Reader is acting in good faith, they will agree that I have still occupied myself with it too much. My subject did not need such ornamentation. catchword: "OF"
