of Pre-established Harmony Leibniz’s famous theory that the soul and body do not directly influence each other, but were synchronized by God from the beginning, like two perfectly timed clocks.. It is easy to recognize there several ideas of Plato.

And also to Jurisprudence.

Such pleasant studies were occasionally interrupted by the lessons in Law Jurisprudence: The theory and philosophy of law. that Mr. Leibniz took from Leonard Schwendendorffer and Quirinus Schacher, and by the academic exercises to which students are subjected in German universities.

Directs and defends legal theses.

Immediately after his return from Brunswick, he had been admitted as a Master of Arts; and this degree giving him the right to preside over theses, he supervised the defense of one in which he had included several philosophical questions drawn from Law (a). Becoming a student again in his turn, and in order to earn the rank of Adjunct in Philosophy, he publicly defended a Dispute A formal academic debate or thesis defense. (b) which served as the foundation for his Treatise on Combinations, which appeared in 1668.

Obtains the Degree of Bachelor in 1665.

Finally, he obtained the Degree of Bachelor in 1665, after having defended two acts under the presidency of Schwendendorffer (c). It was also during the course of this year, 1665, that he began to read in his leisure hours the most esteemed works of the scholars who have lived since the renaissance of Letters The "Renaissance of Letters" refers to the revival of classical learning and literature beginning in the 14th century.. Every reading became for him the occasion for some useful project—

(b) On Combinations original Latin: "De Complexionibus".

(c) All these theses, collected together, make a small octavo A book size where each sheet of paper is folded into eight leaves. volume and are indicated at No. 1.
