original: "Es ist noch viel zwischen Himmel und Erden, das von sich unsere ganze Philosophie gar nichts träumen läßt." This is a German translation of Hamlet’s famous line to Horatio: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." In the 18th century, this quote was frequently used by those interested in the "higher" mysteries of Masonry to suggest that rationalist science could not explain everything in the universe.
