The author of the following speeches is a worthy knower and disciple of true wisdom. He himself foresaw that they would be a rock of offense and a stone of stumbling original: "Fels der Aergerniß und Stein des Anstoßes." This is a biblical allusion (see Romans 9:33 and 1 Peter 2:8) used here to suggest that the author’s deep insights might be misunderstood or rejected by those who are not spiritually prepared for them. to many outside, and perhaps even within, the Order Order: This refers to the Freemasons, the fraternal organization for whom these speeches were written.; but all the warmer thanks await him from those who have eyes to see and a heart to feel.
May the merciful God let him see his noble intention achieved in many; may He bless him, and all of us, through Jesus Christ, the true wisdom, our dear Redeemer, and Brother-Master! original: "Brüder-Meister." A specific Masonic-Christian title that portrays Jesus Christ as the ultimate presiding Master over the "Brotherhood" of Masons. Amen!
