is, the power, the blessing, and the working of GOD in our souls and consciences, as well as in outward things, we perceive very little.

Since this is indeed the case, how then may we be heard by God amidst such inattentiveness and sloth? And how should that for which we pray be heard in any way, since we pray without devotion, without attending to the words, and without understanding and faith? What wonder is it, then, if we wish to deal with God the Lord so carelessly and haughtily, without earnestness and the proper devotion of the heart? As we deal with God, so He also deals with us, Psalm 18. original: "Psal. 18" That He not only leaves us to remain and persist in vices and sins, but allows us to fall ever further into all kinds of error, presumption, and godlessness, leading to the greater punishment and pain of hell, and to our destruction.

Therefore, whichever person wishes to escape the coming evil, punishment, and judgment of GOD, and would gladly dwell with Christ in the kingdom of heaven, let him see to it above all things that he learns to pray rightly—yes, that he may exhort and call upon the Lord Christ, just as the disciples once did, that He—
