I saw your three trumpet-like letters original: Epistolas buccinatorias; from the Latin buccina (trumpet), referring to loud, public, or proclamatory letters / the other day / and at the same time, beneath the little treatise original: Tractätlein of the Knight of Helvig, I saw his judgment original: judicium; a formal scholarly opinion or critique, which he had composed as a favor to a friend regarding your second letter / addressed to him and Johann von Berge Hermetis The addition of "Hermetis" suggests a connection to the Hermetic or alchemical tradition of Hermes Trismegistus / and which the bookseller Jansson vom Waasberge had first made public to everyone in the Latin language at Amsterdam. Whereupon I decided / as soon as my affairs were somewhat arranged for a six-month stay here / to dispatch a well-meaning letter of remembrance to you / beloved friends.
