The Portrait of Flamel Nicolas Flamel (c. 1330–1418) was a French scribe and manuscript seller who posthumously became famous as a legendary alchemist. should be placed opposite the Frontispiece.
His House on the Rue de Montmorency Located at 51 rue de Montmorency in Paris, this house was built by Flamel in 1407 and is considered the oldest stone house in the city. page 155
There is a cancel original: "carton." In historical printing, a cancel is a leaf of paper intended to replace a page already printed, usually to correct an error. to be placed at page 37.
