A circular emblem is centered on the page. Inside a central blue oval, a white pelican is shown in a pose of piety. She pecks her own breast to provide her young with her own blood as food. This image is a traditional symbol of self-sacrifice and the alchemical process. Above the pelican, rays of light shine down from a heavenly source. Beneath the nest, there is a small heraldic shield. This shield shows four roses placed around a diagonal cross. A circular motto written in capital letters surrounds the central oval: Hermetic Philosophy original: "PHILOSOPHIA HERMETICA".
