From the folio original: "E folio"
A circular colored emblem or bookplate appears here. Within a central blue oval, a white pelican sits in a nest, plucking its breast to feed three chicks with its blood. This symbol is known as the pelican in its piety, often representing self-sacrifice or the life-giving nature of the alchemical process. Above the bird, a golden sunburst radiates from a green cloud-like shape at the top of the oval. Below the bird rests a small heraldic shield, white with three red roses. Encircling this central scene is a border containing the text Hermetic Philosophy in golden capital letters.
Hermetic Philosophy: A tradition of knowledge based on the writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, focusing on the connection between the human, the natural world, and the divine. Pelican in its piety: A symbol of sacrifice and the nourishment of the soul. Roses: Often used in alchemy and heraldry to signify secrecy, beauty, or stages of spiritual growth.
