The Fifth Letter.

God has given humanity only one commandment.

To the same person the "doubting theologian" mentioned on the previous page, by way of explanation: that God never desired anything else from human beings than that they should cling to Him with their will; conversely, all other laws and commandments of God took their origin solely from the sin of man. For God never placed heavy burdens upon the shoulders of men, but they have loaded these upon themselves through their sins.

The Sixth Letter.

He who is instructed by the Holy Spirit has no need of reading.

To the same person, to show him that a soul who is instructed directly by the Holy Spirit has no need to read anything or to learn from men, because such things would hinder rather than promote the understanding of the truth of GOD.
