3. Who can doubt that this was invented by the Devil? For if this theology had been necessary for Christians to learn the means of their salvation, then without a doubt JESUS Christ would have introduced colleges and high schools of divinity The author is criticizing the "scholasticism" of the 17th century, where faith became a matter of academic degree rather than spiritual practice, so that the people would not have had to persist in their ignorance. But it is quite the opposite; rather, He said to the wise that they must become like little children who have just come into the world, and therefore could not have studied. What then remains here to interpret? This truth is so clear that one would have to accept the teaching of the Gospel original: "Evangelii" with a childlike simplicity if one intends to reach the Heavenly Kingdom. For what purpose should this "new theology" be good, since one must receive the teaching of Jesus Christ as little children? One should rather learn to simplify oneself than to dispute craftily; for all these verbal exchanges overthrow the true sense of the Holy Scripture and shut the door of heaven for those who follow them. JESUS Christ taught us with simple and naked words what we must do and what we must leave undone. We have need of neither interpretations nor explanations to understand what JESUS Christ tells us when He teaches that he who does not forsake all that he possesses cannot be His disciple.
