In this Rose Garden Roozenhof: literally a "court of roses," used here as a title for the collection of spiritual emblems you will generally see JESUS and the SOUL depicted in prints; but the observer must never imagine while reading (whenever the Eternal Divinity is spoken of) that we mean anything with these pictorial representations other than the physical, figurative Humanity of Christ, in His assumed form of a servant Knechtelyke gestalte: a biblical reference to Philippians 2:7, where Christ takes on human form, just as He walked here on Earth among us humans, visible and tangible to external eyes and hands. For according to His Eternal Divinity, He neither may nor can be depicted.
And, as I have said above, if you find something high something "high" refers to sublime or advanced spiritual states here—as there is indeed something high in some places—do not think that I have experienced it myself. Oh no! But I accept it with joy as precious truth, and desire that it may be essentially fulfilled in me, and in all people: And that we ourselves, according to our inner ground inwendigen grond: a mystical term referring to the deepest, most essential part of the soul where it meets God, may become a graceful Garden, planted with many kinds of fragrant Herbs and Flowers; purified of all stinging Thistles and Thorns, so that He who grazes among the Lilies (JESUS, blessed into eternity) may delight to dwell with us and in us.
