C ij
An intricate architectural engraving of a classical facade or triumphal arch. The structure is composed of several levels of ornate decoration: At the top, a triangular pediment containing a relief of reclining and active figures is flanked by two circular medallions showing profile portraits, a man on the left and a woman on the right. Beneath the pediment is an entablature featuring a frieze with five rectangular panels, each depicting a different mythological or allegorical scene with various figures. The main body of the structure contains a central arched portal. The arch is decorated with ornamental patterns and features a carved eagle at the apex. The arch is flanked by two fluted columns resting on large rectangular pedestals. Each pedestal features its own relief carving: the left shows three figures interacting with a circular object, and the right shows four figures in a classical arrangement. The entire image shows significant ghosting where text from the reverse side of the page has bled through.
