A complex mystical engraving depicts a heavenly vision. At the top of the image, seven lamps or incense burners are arranged in a semi-circle. Each lamp emits rays of light. Below these, a large temple or altar sits on a raised platform or mountain. The lower half of the image shows several figures. Some are kneeling or sitting on clouds to pray and meditate. Others appear to be standing in a landscape. The entire scene is framed by clouds and divine light. This imagery is typical of seventeenth-century mystical and theosophical art.
