Gen. 7:1
...[first] and original light; thus he expressed a certain reflection of the Heavenly Sun that had not yet risen; he also demonstrated God's righteous judgment over the unrighteousness of mankind, and the salvation of the believers, who surrendered themselves to God's Ark under His merciful protection. The author uses the sun as a metaphor for Christ, suggesting that even in the time of Noah, there was a "reflection" of the coming savior.

After the earth was renewed once more by the descendants of Noah, many different paths were taken; the human race mostly drifted toward the mists of sin and, turning away from the living spring, leaned toward the stagnant pools of idolatry. Arrogance and pride began to reign; they seemed to want to climb to Heaven and present themselves as Gods. Gen. 11:4 A reference to the building of the Tower of Babel. Since that was not possible, they elevated themselves on earth as much as they could, establishing a Monarchy Monarchy: Here referring to the first great worldly empires in the Eastern lands of Assyria. The powerful ones of the earth named one Saturn, another Jupiter, a third Mars, and so forth, attributing immortal honor to them all. It was a common historical theory in the 18th century that the pagan gods were actually historical kings and heroes who were deified by later generations. They did this in blindness, yet they nonetheless testified through it that there was one all-ruling Divinity and that one should be subject to a Monarchy, failing only in the name, person, being, and nature of the Divine attributes—which are His justice, holiness, wisdom, unfathomable love, and a kind-hearted generosity toward all people, just as His creatures and handiwork give a constant testimony. These [false gods] were far removed from these attributes, and therefore they were false Gods; those who served them were led away from the true Divine being and His noble nature. Meanwhile, the holy wisdom of God, standing firm in His purpose, turned the face of His mercy toward Abraham in Ur in Chaldea, in order to further the same... original: "sel-" (catchword for the next page, likely 'selve' meaning 'same' or 'himself')
