Regarding the Author of this writing, he is known to me only by his Anagramoriginal: "Anagramme". Alchemical authors frequently hid their identities by rearranging the letters of their names, both to maintain a veil of secrecy and to avoid persecution., but it is enough that he followed the right path and discovered the truth of Nature; for although he declares he does not entirely know the Workoriginal: "l'œuvre". This refers to the Magnum Opus or "Great Work," the central process of alchemy aimed at creating the Philosopher's Stone or achieving spiritual transformation., the things he says belie his feigned ignorance.

As for myself, dear Reader, do not inquire who I am; be content that I do not seek
