The text of the title page is enclosed within an elaborate woodcut border. At the top, a radiant sunburst surrounds the Divine Name in Hebrew original: "יהוה", Yahweh. The vertical sides are decorated with leafy scrolls and human figures. The bottom of the frame features a rectangular panel depicting a group of several men and women gathered around a central desk or pulpit with an open book, shown in various attitudes of devotion or study.

Composed for Edification Stichtinge: spiritual "building up" or moral improvement of the reader by J. P. S. Initials for Jan Philipsz Schabaelje (1592–1656), a Dutch Mennonite writer whose works were staples of private devotion.
