By a Disciple of the Cross of JESUS. (Dusedaïn) Dusedaïn is a pseudonym for the mystical author, likely Jean-Philippe Dutoit-Membrini, who wrote under the influence of 18th-century French Quietism.
Completed August 12, 1732.
To which have been added several Latin poems on various sub-
jects, also composed in the solitude of Sonnenstein. Sonnenstein refers to the fortress in Pirna, Saxony, where the author was held as a prisoner of state for several years.

Dear Cross, be my guide. original Latin: "Chara CrVX, MIhIDVX". This is a chronogram where the capitalized letters (C, X, M, I, I, D, V, X) function as Roman numerals totaling the date.
