MR. DE SAINT-MARTIN. Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin (1743–1803) was an influential French mystic and philosopher known as "The Unknown Philosopher." His work emphasizes the internal spiritual path and the "reintegration" of humanity with the divine.

I have desired to do good, but I have not desired to make a stir, because I have felt that the stir did no good, just as the good made no stir. original: "faire du bruit"; literally "to make noise," meaning to seek public fame or worldly reputation. This aphorism encapsulates Saint-Martin's philosophy of "the interior way."
