The matter itself should be communicated, and the work produced from Tenebris in Lucem darkness into light. This is for further reflection, information, and knowledge. This knowledge extends here not only to philosophy, as previously mentioned, but to everything else, both divine and natural.
Until now, it has been a laudable custom that the more important a work is, the greater the patrons chosen and honored for it. This is especially true for those who have a right desire and love for such high matters. Among these, I humbly hope there is a great number, especially among your Electoral and Princely Graces, to my best knowledge. Therefore, with such a mind, I have wished to honor your Electoral and Princely Graces with this present work above others. I wish to appoint you as its most gracious, great, and respectable patrons and defenders.
Therefore, my most humble and submissive prayer reaches your Electoral and Princely Graces. May you deign to accept this, my well-intended conatum effort, in all humility. I commend myself to your graces. In this confidence, and also in Christian loyalty, I commend your Electoral and Princely Graces to divine protection, for a happy reign and praiseworthy victory against your enemies, together with all prosperous welfare and success, both eternal and temporal. I humbly commend this herewith. Given at Frankfurt am Main, during the Spring Fair itself in the year 1619.
