Preface.

...to work upon Gold and Silver, and yet it is not the Mercury of the Sun and Moon original: "Mercurius Solis & Lunæ." In alchemy, this refers to the refined essences of gold and silver rather than the raw metals., as many thousands have thought until now; rather, it is a Mercury that is found in the minerals original: "Mineris", and it dissolves original: "solvirt" Gold and Silver into Mercury.

This Mercury of ours is joined with common original: "vulgi" Gold and Silver, for we can find in no other thing on Earth that metallic power which could achieve the result where the innate Sulfur of our Mercury original: "proprium Sulphur nostri Mercurii" is thereby coagulated original: "coagulirt", except in Gold and Silver alone. For without these two, it cannot be prepared, or brought to its end or fixity original: "Fixität"; the state where a substance can withstand the fire without evaporating. Therefore, in Gold and Silver lies the true astral influence original: "Astralische Influenz"; the celestial energy believed to be stored within noble metals to perfect original: "perficiren" the Mercury.
