Of the Pasquils original: "Pasquillorum." A pasquil (or pasquinade) is a form of satire, often anonymous and highly critical of political or religious figures, named after the "Pasquino" statue in Rome where such lampoons were traditionally posted.

Of which the first contains very many things written in verses and rhymes, the other in prose, excellently suited to cheering and strengthening the soul of the pious reader in this most turbulent state of affairs. The "turbulent state" refers to the intense religious and political conflicts of the Protestant Reformation.
