The manuscript is protected by a professional dark brown leather binding. The craftsmanship features blind tooling|decorative designs pressed into the leather using heated metal tools without the application of gold leaf or color, which creates subtle, recessed patterns in the surface. These designs include decorative frames and a series of interlaced ovals.
At the heart of the cover is a central circular wreath. Inside this wreath are two fleur-de-lis|a stylized lily symbol frequently used in heraldry to represent royalty, particularly in France applied with gold tooling.
