all the instruments granted to us for grasping those things which God has revealed: namely, the external and internal Senses, the sound power of reasoning, and finally Faith to be applied to the divine oracles. For if all these are applied in every way, they will enable us to know all things that can be known. For because nothing can be known unless it has been revealed and grasped either by Sense, or by Reason, or by Faith, or by all of them joined together: why should he who knows these things not be said to know all things?
XVI. The Goal of the Book will be panchrēsia: a Greek term meaning "universal utility" or "usefulness for all things"; namely, the Universal Use of all things for all purposes: so that whatever Man must do or endure, in time and in eternity, may be learned here all at once. Here, the M I N D of Man may be formed toward a sufficient knowledge of all things; and the H A N D S and other members of the body toward the useful performance of any good works; and the T O N G U E toward the fitting expression of all the mind's perceptions; and the E M O T I O N S original Latin: "Affectus."
