A strange faction, or conspiracy toward various pursuits original Latin/German: "factio, oder conspiratio in diversa studia"—calling itself the Fraternity of the Rosy Cross original: "Fraternitatem de Rosea Cruce" or the Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross—has recently made itself known. This group claims a special, enlightened knowledge of all things, as well as a Reformation of the entire wide world; however, they have not yet been brought fully into the light of day.
Regarding this Brotherhood, many different, conflicting, and even unseemly judgments and verdicts original: "Judicia" have been issued thus far.
One person has suspected that something lies beneath it to the detriment of original: "cum præjudicio" our beloved authorities, which in time might lead toward the incitement of some sedition original: "ad concitationem alicujus seditionis," meaning a political rebellion or uprising.
Another has held it to be a secret assembly original: "pro conventiculo" against the Reformed Religion and the accepted Augsburg Confession original: "confessionem Augustanam." This was the primary statement of faith for the Lutheran Church, established in 1530; the author implies some feared the Rosicrucians were a threat to established Protestantism.
A third has associated it only with the making of gold original: "Goldmachen"; referring to the practice of physical alchemy.
