A detailed alchemical and mystical engraving serves as the title illustration. At the top of the image is a cross with a serpent coiled around its shaft. This represents the Brazen Serpent, a biblical symbol often used in alchemy to represent healing and the transformation of base nature. It is flanked by the Hebrew divine name Adonai, meaning The Lord. Below this sits a globe pierced horizontally by an arrow. The globe contains the Latin phrase Light out of Darkness. The globe rests upon a small rectangular pedestal marked with the letters B B.
The central portion of the image is a large, shaded trapezoidal field. At the top left corner is the word Soul accompanied by a dove in flight. At the top right is the word Spirit next to a draped female figure. In the center of this field is a large circular seal. The border of the seal contains the names of six archangels: Gabriel, Zaphkiel, Zadrigamael, Raphael, Huniel, and Michael. Inside the seal is a complex geometrical diagram featuring nested triangles. The innermost triangle contains a sun with a human face, and the surrounding points are marked with various small numbers and letters.
Below the trapezoid are three triangular peaks. The central one contains the number 1, symbolizing unity or the source of all things. This entire structure is supported by a classical triumphal arch. The arch has two ornate columns. The left column is marked with the letter J and the right with the letter B, referencing Jachin and Boaz, the pillars of Solomon's Temple. The archway stands at the top of a wide set of stone steps. A solitary bearded figure in long robes stands at the base of the stairs holding a small book.

These initials likely refer to the "Brotherhood" of the Rosicrucians, the subject of the book.

These are the names of archangels. In mystical traditions, they govern the planets and the various layers of the heavens.
