Which he prayed at the hour he was banished from the Garden of Eden, until this holy book was given to him. I know and understand that no living thing is righteous before You. What is my strength that I should be so bold before You? I have no mouth to answer or to speak, and no eye to lift up, for I have sinned and acted wickedly. In my iniquity, I was banished this day, and here I am, tilling and plowing the earth to work that from which I was taken. My fear and dread are no longer upon the inhabitants of the earth as they were at the beginning; for from the time I ate from the Tree of Evil and transgressed Your word, my wisdom was taken from me. I am ignorant and know nothing; I am a fool and do not understand what is to come."

And now O Merciful and Gracious One, return in Your great compassion to the head of Your creation, to the spirit You breathed into me, and to the soul You gave. Meet me with Your grace, for You are pious, slow to anger, and full of kindness. May my prayer ascend before the Throne of Your Glory, and may my cry reach before the Throne of Your Mercy. Grant me favor; may the words of my mouth be acceptable before You, and do not hide Yourself from my supplication. You were and You will be forever; You ruled and You shall rule. Please, have pity on the work of Your hands. Grant me understanding and let me know what will happen to my offspring and my generations, and what will come upon me each day and each month. Do not hide from me the wisdom of Your strength, I pray You, through Your angels.

After three days of his supplications, the Angel Raziel The name Raziel literally means "Secrets of God" came to him while he sat by the river that flows out of the Garden of Eden. Every matter shall be revealed to them. They will understand and know if there will be famine or plenty, heavy storms or rains, drought or an increase in grain, or if it will diminish. They will know if the wicked shall rule in the world, if there will be abundance or lack, if the trees will bear fruit, if there will be plagues of boils among men, if there will be wars, if there will be suffering, or if death will rule over man or beast. They will know if a good decree or an evil one shall go forth from on high, if blood will be shed, or if the slain will groan in the city. And you, Adam, come near and set your heart, and I will inform you of the way of this book and its holiness."

And he opened—the Angel Raziel opened the book and read into the ears of Adam. When he heard the words of this holy book from the mouth of the Angel Raziel, he fell upon his face trembling. The angel said: "Adam, arise, be strong, do not fear, and do not be afraid. Take this book from my hand and guard it, for through it you will know and gain insight, and you will inform everyone who is worthy of it and who will be my portion."
