Rather—just as Adam received it after the Fall, and as Moses and Solomon practiced it—this science is not intended to create much doubt or to refute the opinions of others. Instead, it is at one with the truth, concise, and always consistent with itself. It is therefore the head, sum, and foundation of all academic faculties original: "caput, summa & fundamentum omnium facultatum", containing much concerning Theology and Medicine original: "multum de Theologia & Medicina", but little indeed regarding law and other worldly matters original: "parum verò de jurisprudentia & aliis mundanis". It teaches humanity this soul-saving knowledge of GOD and our LORD Jesus Christ, promotes the true Christian religion, and stirs us toward the fear of GOD as well as other Christian virtues.
