A central emblem for the Hermetic Philosophical Library The Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica, also known as the Ritman Library in Amsterdam, which focuses on the Hermetic tradition. affixed as a sticker. The emblem consists of a blue oval field with a radiant sun at the top. In the center, a white pelican is depicted "in its piety," pelican in its piety: a traditional Christian and alchemical symbol of self-sacrifice where the mother bird feeds her young with her own blood, often representing the "Great Work" in alchemy tearing its breast to feed its young. The pelican stands upon a white crescent moon, which rests on a grey cubic stone. The front of the stone is marked with a square containing five red roses in a cross-like arrangement. The entire scene is encircled by the golden-lettered inscription "HERMETIC PHILOSOPHY".
