outside the Throne of Glory, and they are called the secret of the
Shells Shells|Hebrew: Kelipot. In Kabbalah, these are the spiritual "husks" or layers of impurity that conceal the divine light.. Within them, the secret of the Foreskin Foreskin|Hebrew: Orlah. Used here as a mystical term for spiritual blockage or uncircumcised impurity that surrounds the holy. takes hold.
And when Abraham our father, peace be upon him, arrived
in that category, he provided a place of attachment
for the "Crowns" that were on the Right Side through Ishmael,
comparable to the thread that joins pieces
of fabric together. Concerning this, it is said: And as for Ishmael, I have heard you Genesis 17:20.
And this is the secret of: His hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him Genesis 16:12, and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
And when Isaac arrived in that category
in which he stood, he provided a place of attachment for the Crowns that were
on the Left Side through Esau,
comparable to
the thread we mentioned above. Concerning this, it is said: The pride of
your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose
habitation is high Obadiah 1:3 and so on.
Thus we learn that Ishmael
and Esau are the secret of the attachment of the Seventy Crowns These represent the seventy spiritual princes or guardian angels of the nations of the world, surrounding the core of holiness. surrounding
the Chariot. And all of them are called Outer Shells
and Foreskin.
In Scripture, they are called "Outsides," as it is said:
While as yet He had not made the earth, nor the outsides Proverbs 8:26. The author interprets "outsides" (fields/streets) as the external spiritual realms.. This is the secret
of And He brought him outside Genesis 15:5, and The wife of
the deceased shall not marry outside Deuteronomy 25:5.
And when Jacob our father, peace
be upon him, arrived, he stood in the middle.
Abraham on the Right Side,
and Isaac on the Left Side,
and Jacob in the middle.
The secret is: And Jacob was a simple man, dwelling in tents Genesis 25:27.
Thus, Abraham and Isaac prepared the entire Chariot,
both outer and inner. They prepared the inner,
which is attached to Jacob in Beauty Beauty|Hebrew: Tiferet. The central Sefirah (divine attribute) that balances the kindness of Abraham and the severity of Isaac. on the Central Line;
and they prepared the outer, which are the attachment of the Seventy
Crowns to the hand of the LORD original: "יד וד" (Y-D V-D). A scribal substitution for the four-letter Name of God (Y-H-V-H) to avoid writing it directly., blessed be He, through Ishmael and Esau.
It follows that when Jacob arrived, he was pure, without any dross.
Therefore, he is in the middle. This is the secret of what he said:
"Lest, Heaven forbid, there be any flaw in my bed" A Midrashic reference to Jacob's concern that, unlike Abraham and Isaac, one of his children might be spiritually unworthy. The answer was that all were righteous.—
unlike Abraham from whom came Ishmael, and Isaac
from whom came Esau. They all opened their mouths and said:
Hear, O Israel... The Shema: Deuteronomy 6:4.
Thus Jacob and his sons
take hold of the Central Line, which is called the Inner Point
and the Inner Palace. This Inner Palace, called the
Central Line, is what is called the Name of the LORD, blessed be He,
and it is in the middle. And Seventy Crowns surround
it. This is what is said in the Book of Creation: "The Holy
Palace is set exactly in the middle" Sefer Yetzirah 4:3. And this is the secret of Earth
and Outsides that we mentioned above. And this is the place
called the Central Line. We must know
at which place and through which gate one enters it:
We say: Know that since the Seventy Nations were divided among the Seventy
Crowns—each nation and its land under a known Prince—
the Name, blessed be He, did not find a portion among them all because He
is pure and they are all impure. As it is written: You are of purer eyes
than to behold evil Habakkuk 1:13. Concerning this, it is said: And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east Genesis 11:2—they certainly journeyed and separated themselves from the Ancient One
of the world. They had no portion among all
the nations and all the lands because they were all
impure, until Jacob came, who is balanced
between Abraham and Isaac. He is the portion of the LORD,
blessed be He. For the LORD, blessed be He, dwells in the
Inner Palace, and the Princes surround His throne, just like the
Fruit and the Shells. And the great secret that includes
everything: It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. All
nations surrounded me... and so on. In the name of the LORD I will cut them off.
They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.
They surrounded me like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns; in the name of
the LORD I will cut them off Psalm 118:8-12. He said "I will cut them off" three times,
and "surrounded me" four times.
This is the secret of the Four Partitions that Ezekiel saw
and that Elijah saw; and the fourth was "fine" The "still small voice.". And here
I am hinting at the "Casing" called the Outer Throne,
which is called Adam Humanity/Man, while the Inner Throne is called Adonai My Lord.
And the secret of these and those: When you come into the land...
then you shall count the fruit thereof as forbidden [foreskin]... and so on.
margin: The secret of "foreskin" mentioned three times. Three years it shall be... and in the fourth year... all
the fruit thereof shall be [holy]... and in the fifth year you shall eat the
fruit thereof... Leviticus 19:23-25. The author links the agricultural laws of forbidden fruit to the spiritual stages of transcending the "Shells" to reach holiness. When you merit to understand what we have written,
you will grasp the secret of Earth and Outsides, and you will grasp: It is better to take refuge
in the LORD than to trust in princes. And the secret is hinted at in
the likeness of the Throne: the likeness as the appearance of a man [Adam] Ezekiel 1:26, and the secret:
When the plague of leprosy is in a man [Adam], then he shall be brought unto the priest Leviticus 13:9.
