or by their appearance: Venus and Mercury, due to their close proximity, move at a pace nearly equal to the Sun. From this, they have received the command over all generation The process of birth and the creation of life. Indeed, the Moon, being more moist, when in conjunction or aspect with the Sun, obtains vital heat; she then supplies a warming and vital moisture to things that are to be generated. Mercury, however, mixes these two elements and all their parts in the creation of things according to a certain rhythmic proportion. Venus then applies fitting forms, grace, and joy to such mixtures. The Sun, truly, just as he distributes the whole light collected within himself through the various stars which differ in appearance from one another, so too does he distribute all-forming virtues along with his all-forming light. From this, one may clearly infer that there are at least as many virtues within the Sun as there are stars existing in the heavens.
Accordingly, that the Sun is the King and the Moon—who is both the Sun's sister and spouse—is the Queen of the heavens, is clearly declared by the very arrangement of the signs in the zodiac original: "zodiaco". For Leo, the seat of the Sun, and Cancer, the seat of the Moon, touch one another. Likewise, Aries is the kingdom of the Sun, and Taurus the kingdom of the Moon. The other planets, however, each place their own seats on all sides around the King and Queen as if surrounding those in the center. Mercury, on this side, has Virgo near Leo; on the other side, he has Gemini near Cancer. Venus, moreover, has Libra on this side and Taurus on the other. Mars also has Scorpio on this side
