Since three priests of the same Society, to whom the task was committed, have reviewed the Precursor to the Wondrous World original: "Prodromum in Mundum Mirabilem"; a "prodromus" is a preliminary publication or introductory treatise, composed by Father Caspar Schott, a priest of our Society, and have approved that it may be published; by the authority granted to us by the Very Reverend Father Goswin Nickel, Superior General, we grant that the same may be committed to the press. In witness whereof, we have given these Letters, signed by our hand and secured with our seal. At Würzburg original: "Herbipoli," the Latin name for the city of Würzburg in Bavaria, June 27, 1660.
L. S. abbreviation for "Loco Sigilli," meaning "In place of the seal"
I, Ricquin Göltgens, Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus The Jesuits throughout the Province of the Upper Rhine, by the power granted to me by our Very Reverend Father Goswin Nickel, Superior General, grant permission to Johann Andreas and the heirs of Wolfgang Endter the Younger, to print at their own expense the Precursor to the Wondrous World by Father Caspar Schott of our Society. In witness whereof, we have given them this testimony, signed by our hand and secured with our seal. At Würzburg, June 27, in the year 1660.
