We are a deep shadow; do not vex us, you fools.
This work, so weighty, seeks not you, but the learned.
original: "Umbra profunda sumus..." This couplet warns the casual or uninitiated reader that the text contains "Hermetic" or hidden knowledge not meant for the masses.
